Like most things in life there are rules…
…and the rules that you’re going to learn today are vital when going out in London. So make sure you remember them. And break them at your peril;)
1) Go to the best club you can
It’s no good having these rules in the first place if you stick to them and then have a rubbish night. And there’s no reason to; not in London; not in one of the best clubbing cities in the world!
Awesome clubs can cost a little more than rubbish clubs, and you’ll have to wear nicer clothes. But it’s all worth it when you could have one of the best nights of your life.
2) Get to the club before 11
This one is harder then it seems. We all know what it’s like when time flies — it’s normally when we’re having fun. And even though it’s best to get to the club early it can be hard sometimes when what we’re already doing is a ton of fun.
Here’s the thing though. Any good club gets busy, and not only busy but full as well. Have you ever tried to get in to a club that’s full? It’s damn near impossible.
Take the club being full off the table, there’s still the queue. The earlier you get to the club the shorter the queue’s going to be, the quicker you’re going to get in. And we’re not talking about a small difference here, the queue can be double or more the size later on in the night.
3) Remember the dress code
Depending on the venue this rule can range from not that important to vital. Right, lets assume we’re talking about exclusive London nightclubs here. How important is this rule? It’s vital.
Exclusive clubs have a reputation to maintain and as such the dress code must be adhered to for entry. With promoters sometimes saying things like ‘no effort, no entry’, it’s clear that this rule is here to stay.
What’s the dress code? With the best clubs it’s always smart, and as these clubs are popular with the fashion industry trendy is a definite plus.
4) Make sure you have cash ready
This rule is pretty straight forward…
When you pay for entry the door only accepts cash. No cards, no cheques, no IOUs.
5) Mixed groups are important
Good clubs have something in common. A good mix of girls and guys. If you’ve ever been to a club with 90% sweaty guys then you’ll know what I’m talking about.
And to make sure there’s a good mix the best clubs have a door policy of mixed groups (both girls and guys), or just girls. That means if you’re in a group of all gentlemen then you’re going to have to get some ladies to join you or reserve a table which comes with a higher then normal minimum spend.
But one thing you can guarantee is with this rule in place there’s going to be a great atmosphere and the right mix of people.
6) Get on a guestlist
If you’ve ever waited in a queue, got to the front and been asked which guestlist you’re on and not had one, then you may have already learned this rule the hard way.
For top London clubs the guestlist is a must. If the club is guestlist only and you’re not on the guestlist then forget any of the other rules, you’re not making it past the door…
…With that in mind it’s important to get on the guestlist as soon as you know that you’re going to a particular club.
And also remember that guestlists close around 8pm on the night of the party so if you’ve got the chance to get on the guestlist then do it right away!
